  2. Parents • Victor was born in Besancon. • His father was Joseph Leopold Sigisbert Hugo • His mother was Sophie Trebuchet Joseph was an officer in Napoleon's army.

  3. Dates • Date of Birth: Feburary 26, 1802 • Date of Death: May 22,1885

  4. Children • Victor had five children, although he had five children only one pulled through. The one that did survive was mentally ill. • Francois: October 28, 1828 – Decemer 26, 1873 • Leopold: July 16, 1823- October 10 1823 • Charles: November 4, 1826- March 13, 1871 • Adele: August 24, 1830- April 21, 1915 • Leopoldine: August 28, 1824- September 4, 1843

  5. When Victor was young he wrote poetry, he also published a few volumes of lyric poetry. • Victor was not allowed to marry his love, Adele Foucher, but when his mother died he married her in 1822.

  6. Leopoldine died when she was nineteen when she drown after a boating accident. The reason she wasn’t able to surface was because her dress was soaked and therefore became very heavy.

  7. He was a French poet, and dramatist. Hugo is considered one of the most well-known French writers.
