KYCC Elections. Last year elections were carried out in over 150 Polling stations across Kent. 100 Young People nominated themselves to take part in the elections Over 27,000 Ballots were cast across the county! 48 young people were elected through District Seats and 12 through Community Seats.

KYCC Campaigns Last year the 3 KYCC Campaigns were voted on by over 20,000 young people! And the top 3 campaigns were: • Transport • Things to do • Employment
What have KYCC have been busy doing this year? Transport.you Samuel Watkins & Alice Stretch presenting their video on how EMA will affect young people’s ability to get to post 16 Education in September to the Department for Education. The online petition to ‘Extend the Freedom Pass for 16—20 year olds’ reached its 12,000 target, and a full council debate was held. KYCC are now working to develop the extended freedom pass and take their ideas forward to the Cabinet Members! Employment The KYCC employment group will be working Kent Choices 4U to help create 5 new apprenticeships for young people in Kent this year . They will also to redesign their current website to be more appealing and offer more options to 14-19yr olds. KYCC are also currently producing a leaflet on young people’s employment rights as many young people do not know what their rights are when they get a job. Things to do! KYCC are keen to provide discount vouchers to make leisure activities more accessible to young people and are continually exploring avenues to achieve this. Making up-to-date information available to young people about what’s going on in their local area is also a priority through PLINGS!

KYCC working Nationally British Youth Council We attend events across the country and members are currently leading the national Campaign ‘Save Our Services’ Dara Farrell, chair of KYCC,is now a vice chair of the BYC and is working to bring about positive changes for young people in Britain.
KYCC Elections 2011 Kent Youth County Council Elections will take place from Monday 14th - Sunday 20th November 2011. This year the election process will change as we move to online elections! Young people aged 11—18 years can now register as a Candidate for the KYCC elections. Candidates can Register online or download an application form from… www.kent.gov.uk/kycc
