  3. Healthinsurance You should make health insurance in Tartuin following cases: • You don’t have any health insurance; • You only have a travel insurance; • Your current travel or health insurance is not accepted by the Migration Bureau;

  4. Health Insurance (2) • Following insurance companies are accepted by the Migration Bureau: • AON Student Insurance: valid worldwide, www.aonstudentinsurance.com; • SwissCare International Student Health Insurance: valid worldwide,www.swisscare-intl.com; • ERGO Insurance: valid only in Estonia, www.ergo.ee; • Crystal Studies Insurance: valid worldwide,www.kindlustusest.ee/pages/show/student_insurance; • Insurance offered by ISEP (for ISEP studentsonly). • KindlustusEstinsurancebroker: https://www.kindlustusest.ee/student-insurance

Health insurance (3) • Be ready to pay for the costs at first and keep all documents proving the expenditures made. • Take the insurance contract with you. • Unlike Estonian students, you are not covered by the Estonian health insurance fund (haigekassa) • Working in Estonia – covered by the Estonian health insurance fund

  7. Rights of a residence permit holder • Traveling - In order to travel, a person will need, in addition to the residence card, also a travel document; - 90 days in half a year in the Schengen area. • Working - Right to work without a working permit.

  8. Residence permit and studies • Short-term student:Minimum requirement for students who apply for temporary residence permit for study: at least 22.5 ECTS per semester • Degree student:You can have a residence permit only if you study full time (75% of the nominal work load); • Can´t have a residence permit during the academic leave (valid residence permit will be cancelled).

Residence permits: Group A • Citizens who can apply for the residence permit in Estonia:Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan,Macedonia, Mexico, South Korea, United States of America; • You can stay without the residence permit in Schengen area (incl. Estonia) for up to 3 months in a 6 month period; • You must apply for the residence permit ASAP! • The process might take up to 2 months. • Invitations for the residence permit and application forms will be given in the workshop “How to apply for a residence permit in Estonia“

Residence permits: Group B • Students who need visa or residence permit to enter Estonia; • You need to apply for the residence permit in case your current visa doesn’t cover your study period; • You must apply for the residence permit ASAP! • The process might take up to 2 months. • Invitations for the residence permit and application forms will be given in the workshop “How to apply for a residence permit in Estonia”

  11. Workshop “How to apply for a residence permit in Estonia” • Forshort-termstudents:Sept 3 at 14:00-16:00 • Fordegree-seekingstudents:Sept 4 at 14:00-16:00 Place: Ülikooli 18-140 (UT mainbuilding)

Required documents • Official invitation for the residence permit – will be given at the workshop; • Application forms – will be given at the workshop; • Motivation letter (no special format); • Document which certifies the legal income (can be a proof of stipend, your parents income); • Health insurance contract; • Document certifying the payment of the state fee (63,91€); • Identification document; • 1 photo (you can take it in the Migration Bureau free of charge).

Legal income • Document containing information about your legal income in last 6 months (inEnglish, Russian or Estonian): • scholarship; • your own salary; • parents’ salary; • financial support from government of foreign country; • other legal sources. Must show the amount, regularity and the source of theincome.

  14. Missing documents Example of e-mails and missing documents: 1. Document proving your or your family members legal income in the last 6 months – showing the amount, regularity and the source (i.e bank statement, employer certificate, scholarship). 2.An insurance policy. You have valid visa and you want to receive your document from Tartu. We only accept confirmation about insurance when applicant have no possibility to come to Estonia and make an insurance policy; Submit the missing documents soon after receiving such e-mail from the Migration Bureau!

After receiving the residence permit • register yourself within one month as a citizen of Tartu in the Population Register Office! • notifythe Student Village • notifythe ISS (Estonian ID code) ID code: 11-digit number, starts with either 3, 4, 5 or 6 and is followed by your date of birth (yymmdd) + four random numbers.
