  3. Shemot/Exodus 25:1 – 27:19 Terumah (Offering) “The Mishkan”

  4. The Materials Needed • Gold • Silver • Bronze • Acacia Wood • Special fabric and material • Jewels

  5. Ark of the Covenant • A wooden box • Covered in gold. • The top was solid gold and called the Mercy Seat • It had two cherub or angels on it.

  6. Menorah • 7 branch lamp stand • Made of solid gold • Gave light on the inside of the Mishkan.

  7. The Altar of Incense • A “mini” altar. • Made of wood and gold. • The priests would burn incense daily.

  8. Table of Showbread • Made of wood and gold. • A table where special bread was placed each day.

  9. The Mishkan • The Mishkan was a tent with walls. • The walls were made of wood and gold. • Connected to each other by pegs • Slots on the top and bottom. • Heavy silver bands held each wall together. • The walls were covered with very beautiful material. • “The Veil” was hung on the inside to make two rooms.

  10. The Furniture Location • The Holy Place: • The Menorah • Altar of Incense • Table of Showbread • The Holy of Holies: • The Ark of the Covenant

  11. The Altar of Sacrifice • Larger version of the Altar of Incense. • Made of wood and bronze. • A ramp so the priests could walk to the top of the Altar.

  12. Laver • A very large bowl made of bronze. • Held water that the priest used to wash their hands.

  13. The Courtyard • A huge outer wall that surrounded the Mishkan. • White linen curtains • Large poles • The only way into the Mishkan was one large and very colorful gate. • The average person could only go into the courtyard • Only the priest could go into the Holy Place • Only the High Priest could go into the Holy of Holies. The Gate

  14. Why the Mishkan? • The Mishkan was a meeting place for God and the people. • It is like a living room: • Meet people • Eat • Talk about things • God wanted to remind the people that he is always with them.

  15. Only One Way • If the people wanted to meet God they had to go through THE GATE. • There was only one gate. • There was only one way into the Mishkan.

  16. Yeshua and the Mishkan • Yeshua is “The Gate” • Yeshua said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by me.”

  18. What Did We Learn Today? • The LORD gave Moses instructions on how to build the Mishkan • The people gave donations of gold, silver, bronze, wood, jewels, special fabrics and wood to build the Mishkan • Just like there was only one gate in the Mishkan, so Yeshua is the only way to heaven.
