  1. Warm-Up • Many of us are fond of music that speaks to our particular generation. Write three statements using credibility, emotion and logic to persuade someone not of your generation (me, your parents) that your music is worth listening to. • Turn and read your statements • Write which statement your was most persuasive and give two reasons why.

  2. Content Language Objective • Analyze a character and extend my knowledge of characterization by making text-to-world connections via music by creating a playlist for a character or work of literature

  3. Playlist • Pick one of the readings we have done this semester (novel, poem, short story, essay) and create an 8-12 song playlist. • Pick songs that go with the theme, character, tone, etc. • You will arrange the songs in a graphic organizer that makes sense to you. On that back, explain the order and give a brief rationale (2-3 sentences) for why you chose each song.

  4. Example • Author Stephanie Meyer of the Twilight series currently hears the following songs when she reads the first book from her sparkling vampire series: • 1. “Why does it always rain on me”-Travis • 2. “Creep”-Radiohead • 3. “In My Place”- Coldplay • 4. “I’m Not Okay”- My Chemical Romance • 5. “With You”-Linkin Park • 6. “Be Myself”- Linkin Park • 7. “Dreaming”-OMD • 8. “Please Forgive Me”- David Gray • 9. “Here With Me”- Dido • 10. “Time is Running Out” –Muse • 11. “Tremble for My Beloved”- Collective Soul • 12. “Dreams”- Cranberries
