Q6) What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Google Chrome • I used Google Chrome for the research element, but also for creating my blog which allowed me to record the progress of the project. I researched a few magazine front covers and contents pages to get more of a realistic idea of how I wanted my magazine to look and also gave me a base for my developing ideas for the style of my magazine. It also helped me do more detailed research into the genre of my magazine, to see what else was out there in the market involving the yoga/fitness side and as far as I am aware I could then see that there was no magazine that was mainly music with element of yoga to it. • Is the program used to make the blog, I did enjoy using this type of technology as it was quick and easy to use. Word Press
DaFont • I used DaFont to chose and download different fonts to use for my front cover, contents page and double page spread, this helps make the pages look interesting and individual rather than plain and boring. I have used this screen shot to show the use of DaFont and you the feature where you can type in the word you will be using and it will compare it to other fonts. • I am glad to of been introduced to this website because I am sure I will use it in future tasks to make my work stand out more.
Microsoft Office • I used Power point to make my presentation for my pitch to decide on the media product I will be making, I found this a useful method as I already know how to use PowerPoint and it allows you to present each idea clearly with structured slides for each idea. • I used Microsoft Word to create my publication plan I also used it to plan the text on my double page spread. • I used Excel to make the pie charts at the beginning showing results from the magazine pitching and also showing results from my questionnaires to show what type of things I need to include in my product.
Iphone • I used my iPhone to take all the photos on my blog, it was useful using my phone as when ever I needed a photo or if there was a goo opportunity to take one I could. • I used InDesign to create my magazine. I learnt how to used it and I am sure I will be able to used it in other creative tasks as it was an easy program to get the hang of and I am happy with the results. • I used photoshop only slightly to edit my photos I used the ‘curve’ feature to change some of the background colours for my front cover to make it seem more appealing to the eye. InDesign and Photoshop
Prezi • I enjoyed using prezi as it is a useful way of presentation. I was new to the program at the beginning of this topic but I now know that I will have many uses for it in the future. It made presenting a bit more interesting and allowed a certain structure that anyone can look at to your ideas.
Fotor • I also used a program called fotor to make collages which I used a lot through out my blog to compare differences with my pictures mainly. I found this website by searching collage maker into the internet, this was an easy way to make collages and to save them easily.
I would not of been able to achieve the product I have now, or how happy I am with it with out these resources. The research helped a lot and this was due to the internet that I could do this. Media products today function a lot through social networking sites and digitally and without the access to it I doubt other magazines would be as successful as the are today.
