COURAGE “Cour” – Heart “Courage” – Speak from the heart This requires some vulnerability
Start with Why WHY Start with your curiosity. • Why is this exciting to you? • What do you believe in/value/want to achieve? What difference will it make if you do? HOW do you go about doing this? WHAT does this involve?
Tell a story How many ways could you use stories? ODARE • Opening • Development • Apex • Resolution • Ending
Tell your story... Either An illustrative story • To illustrate your Why, How or What OR A metaphor • That explains something about your research to a non-specialist.
Now what? To build your confidence you are going to need to practice telling your story! • Who do you want to notice and rate your research? (high value, high risk) 2. Who can you safely practise on?
Your nugget… • What do you want to remember from this session? Write this on your post-it to take away. • We’ll also share them before we finish.
You are wonderful. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us... Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.... We are all meant to shine.”
