RESEARCH - PLANNED 2002 • Jetfire“Guideline for the design & protection of pressure systems to withstand severe fires” Work in progress on interim guidelines. May result in new industry JIP. Budget of £50,000 available (S204) • Subsea BundlesWorkshop held at IP January 2002.Outcome: form a new JIP to write industry guidelines. No funding yet.

QUESTION 1: DOES THE GLOBAL PETROLEUM INDUSTRY HAVE STANDARDS OF COMPETENCE FOR ITS PROFESSIONAL AND MANAGERIAL STAFF?
QUESTION 2: WOULD SUCH STANDARDS OF COMPETENCE IMPROVE THE INDUSTRY’S SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE?
PROPOSAL: TO INVITE SENIOR MANAGERS TO A WORKSHOP TO DEFINE THE RISKS AND BENEFITS OF DEVELOPING A COMMON COMPETENCE FRAMEWORK
