Introduction • Microsoft Word is used by everyone • Hyperlinks provide additional resources without cumbersome webpage names • Can be used in: Teacher/Student interaction Webpage/Viewer interaction
Step #1 Open an existing Word document Click Start menu Select Microsoft Word Click “File” and drag to “Open” Select the file you want and click “Open”
Step #2 Select word/phrase to be used as Hyperlink Left click at beginning of text, and Drag mouse over entire selection
Step #3 Select Hyperlink Click “Insert” at the top of the document Select Hyperlink from the menu (or press Ctrl+K)
Step #4 Type URL or pathname In the dialogue box, the highlighted text will appear in the top space. Type the URL or file pathname in the 2nd entry space. You can also choose the entry from the list provided.
Step #5 Click OK
Step #6 Test Hyperlink Click on newly highlighted word to test that link is valid and works properly
Deleting a Hyperlink • Highlight the Hyperlink word you wish to delete without clicking the link • Click “Insert” then “Hyperlink” • Clickon the “Remove Link” button at the bottom left corner of the dialogue box to delete the Hyperlink
