Raised Standards of Teaching • Spring 2009 Focus School due to inadequate teaching • Now all teaching is at least satisfactory, the majority good and some outstanding • All the usual stuff....AfL, Interaction, S&L, Feedback & Marking, Curriculum Targets • Harnessed the ISP support • High Expectations & Consistency
Staff • Moving staff on Vs. Staff moving on • Sept 2009: Six new class teachers, 5 of whom were NQTs • Growing the NQTs and keeping the good ones • Recruitment
Leadership Structure • Phase leadership, with regular meetings • Leading learning • Ensuring consistency • Developing the leaders • Monitoring
Learning Culture • Visible priorities- sharing with the children what we’re trying to improve • Increasing the visibility of English and Maths • Parental involvement • Physical environment • Power of Assemblies • Learning Wall
Learning Culture • Handwriting & Presentation • Book Banding • Display • Manners • Behaviour & Attendance • Created Traditions • Learning Champions: it’s all about Progress!
Learning Champions are awarded a t-shirt to wear and appear on the ‘Hall of Fame’ outside the headteacher’s office, along with all the pupils who were nominated that term.
