Constraints • Lack of assured irrigation – 28% (18.3% by canal, 65.2% from well and tube wells, 16.5% by other sources. • Large number of small & marginal farmers - (61%) • SRR in major Kharif crops - (15-20%) • Successive years of drought • Large area of Kharif fallow – (41 lakh ha.). • Contribution of agriculture in Net State Domestic Product came down from 39.98 to 27.92%

5 (a). Strengthening of Agriculture Extension Network Kisan Mitra – 51000 (Remuneration for inputs) Gokul Gram – 1550 Bio Villages – 1586 Seed rolling plan for all the districts. Formation of seed growers’ associations – 176 Soil testing laboratory – Sanctioned for all districts. Kharif Pad Yatra – The indent of breeder seed has been increased from 4000 quintals to 6975 quintals.
5 (6). Strengthening of Agriculture Extension Work through Extension Reform Project (ATMA)
6. Reforms in APMC Act. Provision made for contract farming. Single license system introduced. Provision made for establishment of purchase centers outside the market yard – 55 centers so far. Provision made to provide land within Market yard for Agri. processing, grading and cleaning units. Amendment for establishment of private market yards under consideration.
