Today’s Agenda • 8:00-8:30 Registration, Morning Refreshments and Estimation Jar • 8:30-9:15 Welcome and Introductions • 9:15-10:00 NYS Pre-K Math Core Curriculum and Learning Standards • 10:00- 10:30 Pre-K Math glossary and language • 10:30-11:00 Math and Literacy Integration • 11:00-11:30 Make and Take overview for PM • 11:30-12:30 LUNCH, laptops and collaboration • 12:30-2:30 Make and Take Session (Conf. RM 1 and Training RMs A and B)
Pre-K NYS Math Standards Pre-Assessment • Complete the Pre-assessment using the scale of 1-5 provided. • Share with your group your response to #3-#5.

Give-one-Get One Activity On your index card… List 2 ways you teach or incorporate math vocabulary into your classroom/lessons. Find 3 new ways from others in the room, write it on your card so you have a total of 5 different ways. You can sit when you have 5.
Mathematical Vocabulary Idea What is one unique mathematical vocabulary idea you “got” that you are willing to share with the group?
Math and Literacy Integration • Incorporating Literature (i.e. The Shape Poem/and Song) • Communication (i.e. building with shapes, math vocabulary) • Making Connections (i.e. art and music) • Formative Assessment (i.e. individual work using shape soup recipe and creating a visual)>
Literacy/Math Connection • If you have used one of the literature pieces in your classroom share a different activity that you have tried. (record it on the chart paper) • What other books do you recommend for math and literacy integration?
Make and Take Overview (PM) • Aligned to NYS math standards and performance indicators (Sample Tasks). • 5 rotations (number sense (a), measurement (b), algebra (c), geometry (d) and statistics/probability (e)). Your letter is on your nametag. • 20 minute rotations
