Therefore…. Construct a sentence using the word ‘therefore’. Synonym—consequentially What therefore phrase did Nephi write in 1 Nephi 1:1-2?
Reformed Egyptian (1 Nephi 1:2) -more compact than Hebrew (Mormon 9:33) -not as perfect or precise as Hebrew (Mormon 9:33) -altered sufficiently from original Egyptian that nobody else would understand, so God prepared a means of translation (Mormon 9:34) -brass plates also written in some form of Egyptian (Mosiah 1:3-4) -a typical sentence in English of 15 words will usually translate into 7-10 Hebrew words, therefore Hebrew is compact. But reformed Egyptian is more compact still causing some scholars to speculate that it was a type of shorthand.
The original Book of Mormon Hero • Have all students write on a blank piece of paper the first Book of Mormon hero that comes to mind and hold it up—the majority will say Nephi. He is heroic, but he’s not the first hero. Lehi is (maybe nobody will put Lehi)! • Afterwards, Mannings, Suttons, Adams, Bush, Joseph F. and Joseph Fielding Smith—when you see Dad accomplish something, it becomes very attainable. • To raise a Nephi, be a Lehi!
