My Grandma • Born August 21, 1931 • Youngest of 5, born to immigrant parents. • Father was a barber • Married Daniel Gonella at 27
Sound Recording • Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Dorris Day, Perri Como • First record player had to be wound until moderized • Limitations on when she was allowed to listen • Learned new music from school dances, radio and older siblings.
Radio • “I remember sitting in the front room with my sister listening to the radio. We would would cuddle together and listen to it with our family.” • “The Shadow” was her favorite show • Jack Benny and Rice a Roni • Static and Clarity FDR Speech
Television/Cable • Great-Grandfather bought a TV early for his family • Her family was glued to the TV • Like the radio, static and clarity is questionable. Had to use bunny ears • Life change, was always in the living room • Common commercials were Rice a Roni, Halo Shampoo and Chesterfield Cigarettes. • Switched to cable (prisim) for better reception and larger selection of programs

Movies • Tickets much more affordable then • Loved Shirley Temple movies • Saw Gone With the Wind in theatres, dressed to kill • Was influenced by Godzilla and the Godfather
