What employers want • A 2009 survey of more than 300 companies and organizations indicates that employers want their workers to use a broader range of skills and have higher levels of learning to meet the demands of an increasingly complex workplace. • A majority of employers said colleges should place more emphasis on: • Effective oral/written communication • 89 percent. • Critical thinking and analytical reasoning • 81 percent. • Ability to apply knowledge and skills to real world settings • 79 percent. • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems • 75 percent. • Ability to connect choices and actions to ethical decisions • 75 percent. • Teamwork skills and ability to collaborate in diverse groups • 71 percent. • Ability to innovate and be creative • 70 percent. • Knowledge of developments in science and technology • 70 percent.

Group Project/Lab • 3110Project – Spring 2014 • Project evaluation form: • ITIS 3110 Final Project Criteria • Overview • A well written description of what your project is about • Format • TOC • Pages numbered • Figures, tables labeled • Properly bound • Small documents: staples OK (3 along long edge) • 3 ring binders: use the right size binder, don’t put 10 pages in a 3 inch binder • Cover page that shows from the outside • Class, lab section, team number, team name, project name • Summary • A well written summary of your project including what your team learned • Presentations during lab 14 • 10 bonus points for each presenter
Final Exams • Schedule: • http://registrar.uncc.edu/calendars-and-exam-schedules/exam-schedules • ITIS 3110: • Friday • May 2nd 8:00 am • NOTE TIME CHANGE! Will have 1½ hours to take the exam • Class option: start test at 9:00 am • Whole class must agree • Covers whole semester with emphasis on the last half of the semester • ~75-100 pts • No exam for individual lab sections • Lab material is covered in Final Exam • Check your exam schedule for ALL courses • Check for conflicts! • Will need to reschedule one of them • If you have 3 in one day you may reschedule one • Rules of how to do, must know in advance
Group Final Project • A well documented failure is better than a badly documented success • The majority of the grade will be based on the project write-up!
Final Exam Conflict/Excess? • Alternate test opportunity • Check to see if you have a conflict • Check to see if you have 3 or more tests on the same day • If 3 on the same day have right to move one • Defaults to the one in the middle • I am flexible with enough advance notice • Form is on Web site • Alert me early so we can get it resolved • Need 2 weeks advanced notice
