  3. EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM IN LAOS

Laos Educational System consists of three levels: • Primary School (5 Years length); • Secondary School (High School) for 6 Years, and; • University Levels which last from 4 to 6 year courses depending upon specialties. • All Lao citizens start their schooling at the age of 6 of which primary and secondary schools are compulsory.

  5. Laos Educational System (Cont.) There are three universities establishing in Laos • National University of Laos located in Vientiane Capital; • University of Souphanouvong located in Luang Prabang (Nothern Part of Laos), and; • Champasack University located in the South.

  6. Laos Educational System (Cont.) • National University of Laos is the first, the largest and the most complex higher institution in Laos. • It becomes the mother of the two latter universities in terms of educational experiences, management, and accreditation. • It operates under the Ministry of Education’s umbrella.
