Laos Educational System consists of three levels: • Primary School (5 Years length); • Secondary School (High School) for 6 Years, and; • University Levels which last from 4 to 6 year courses depending upon specialties. • All Lao citizens start their schooling at the age of 6 of which primary and secondary schools are compulsory.
Laos Educational System (Cont.) There are three universities establishing in Laos • National University of Laos located in Vientiane Capital; • University of Souphanouvong located in Luang Prabang (Nothern Part of Laos), and; • Champasack University located in the South.
Laos Educational System (Cont.) • National University of Laos is the first, the largest and the most complex higher institution in Laos. • It becomes the mother of the two latter universities in terms of educational experiences, management, and accreditation. • It operates under the Ministry of Education’s umbrella.
NUOL Vision : The National University of Laos will be the center of Excellence for promoting Higher Learning, Research and Cultural Preservation towards Strengthening Capacity Building and Human Resources Development with intellectual vitality, potential knowledge and skills, good attitudes, loyalty, dignity, good health, and mental civilization to respond to the national demand and to be recognized regionally and internationally.
