  2. Cyberbullying 1 in 3 teenagers have experienced some kind of cyberbullying ¼ of children have been cyberbullied via a mobile phone. 1 in 10 teachers have experienced cyberbullying

  3. Cyberbullying is the use of Information Communications Technology particularly mobile phones and the internet, deliberately to upset someone else. (DfE, 2010) can be 24/7, invading home and personal space. can reach very large audiences rapidly. can be anonymous. incidents can themselves act as evidence. may be unintentional.

  4. Virtual Learning Environments Common technologies that have been used to cyberbully Gaming consoles and sites Video hosting sites Mobile phones Social networking sites Instant Messaging Chat rooms Webcams Email

  5. What can schools do? Raise awareness of cyberbullying in school Review and update anti-bullying policies and AUPs Promote the positive use of technology Encourage staff to share their experiences of current technologies. Make reporting easier e.g. anonymous reporting – worry box peer reporting - cyber mentors

  6. Cyber mentors http://www.cybermentors.org.uk/ Identify Year 5/6 children to become cyber mentors Provide support and advice to children being cyberbullied. Will need some training from teachers
