3 Methods of interacting with the application: • Eligible Roster • SAU is already determined based on logon information • Can select either current or previous school year • Roster can be sorted several ways • Data can be directly exported to csv file • Advantages: • No data needs to be submitted • Easily printable and sortable rosters • Good for schools with limited technology in place • Disadvantages • Data is based on most current I4See submission • May not capture all students currently enrolled • May contain students no longer enrolled • Not easily imported into POS
3 Methods of interacting with the application: • Query by Student • Look up the eligibility of an individual student • Can be done by SASID or Name DOB combination • Advantages: • Not District sensitive – Roster may not show student • Entire household is eligible if one student is eligible • Quickly and easily verify a student’s eligibility who has • not yet submitted an application • Disadvantages • Need to print screen for documentation • Only one student at a time is processed • Need to know SASID or Name, DOB combination
3 Methods of interacting with the application: • Query by File • Upload and process your entire student DB at once • Can be done by SASID or Name DOB combination • Advantages: • Not District sensitive • Flexible -Upload any data needed to create imported DC applications in your specific POS or Applications processing system • Export can originate from SIS or POS • Export definition may be able to be saved and easily run • Disadvantages • Need to know SASID or Name, DOB combination • File needs to be checked for errors prior to upload • Can be complicated, especially at first • Process takes a few minutes based on file size
3 Methods of interacting with the application: • Query by File • If using SASID, a valid 10 digit SASID must be the first field in any upload. • If using Name, the following fields must be the first 5 fields in every record, in this order: • Last Name, First Name, MI*, DOB, Gender* • *MI and Gender are optional, but a field must exist! • You can add whatever data you want after required data!
Required format for importing Direct Certification files into several popular POS/Application Programs: • Also called WinSnap • Only field needed is Local student ID • For Query by File using SASID: • SASID, Local ID • For Query by File using Name: • Last Name, First Name, MI(Optional), DOB, Gender (optional), Local ID • DOB may be formatted x,x,xxxx or xx,xx,xxxx (3/5/2010 or 03/05/2010)
Required format for importing Direct Certification files into several popular POS/Application Programs: • If using NutriKids F/R processing, Direct Cert files cannot be imported by user. Must be entered manually as DC application or your database file must be sent to NK Tech Support. • If Using only NutriKids POS, eligibility can be imported. • Fields required for any NutriKids import are: • Local ID, Last Name, First Name, School, Grade • For Query by File using SASID: • SASID, Local ID, Last Name, First Name, School, Grade, Eligibility • For Query by File using Name: • Last Name, First Name, MI (Optional), DOB, Gender (Optional), Local ID, School, Grade, Eligibility

Required format for importing Direct Certification files into several popular POS/Application Programs: • If using MT Applications: • Local ID, First Name, Last Name, Household Name, Household Address, Household City, Household State, Household ZIP • For Query by File using SASID: • SASID, Local ID, First Name, Last Name, Household Name, Household Address, Household City, Household State, Household ZIP • For Query by File using Name: • Last Name, First Name, MI, DOB, Gender, Local ID, Household Name, Household Address, Household City, Household State, Household ZIP
For other POS systems: • Determine if your POS/ Apps system can import a Direct Certification file and create an application. • If so, determine the fields necessary and create an export with these fields, either from POS or SIS. • Save definition if at all possible. • Use SASID if possible. • Upload to NH Nutrition Application. • Import records with “Y” at end.

In Summary • No paper letters next year- sink or swim with EDC! • Use all available resources – local IT staff, POS and SIS provider tech support • EDC is getting more common – more built in functionality • New data is available by the 5th of every month • The more Directly Certified applications you have, the smaller your pool for verification
