  3. La description au passé • Whenever you start a story, there is bound to be some background information. • It was a beautiful day… • The birds were singing…. • John and Jane were in the park having a picnic…. • Everyone was happy….. • UNTIL…..

Anything that is Background Informationwill be in the IMPARFAIT • This includes: • What time (date) it was • What the weather was like (until it changed) • What everyone was doing (already) • What they looked like (Or what the place was like) • How everyone was feeling. • Il était midi, le 2 mai. • Il faisait beau! • Jean et Jeanne faisaient un pique-nique • Jean portait un jean et Jeanne avait un foulard violet. • Jeanne étaittrèsnerveuse, parcequec’étaitleur première sortie ensemble.
