Case Study: Origin and Destination Study • Goals: • Determine origination of vehicles • Expected performance from an LPR system • Process: • Installed a front and rear camera on each of two lanes • Integrated with existing vehicle triggers • Temporarily mounted on weighted platforms • Collected images 24/7 for three months • Results: • 2 million plates from 58 origins • 81.05% of the total images carried an accuracy of 99.23% • In operation, this means over 80% of the images can be automatically processed
Case Study: Image Optimization • Goals: • Improve performance of current system without changes in equipment or infrastructure • Automate more reads, reducing costs of manual review • Process: • Customer sent 7,000 images from 40 cameras installed at 14 lanes • Images were run through Perceptics OCR engine to determine performance baseline • Perceptics’ Image Quality Assessment tool automatically computed a scorecard and Perceptics engineers studied images to verify scorecard and identify anomalies • Recommended adjustments per lane and per camera were reported • Second round of images sent to Perceptics to measure effectiveness of suggested camera modifications • Results: • 27 of 40 cameras needed adjustments • Could expect as much as a 27% increase in accuracy if cameras were tuned properly
