  4. The Problem Asking Questions At the C5ISR Conference • Traditionally Used Microphones • Can be intimidating • Often become sales pulpit Thank you for taking my question...first let me tell you all about me and my company…BLAH BLAH BLAH…5 mins later… ”Where do you see your dept in 5 years”

  5. Solutions? • Needs to be anonymous • Paper slips takes too long /hard to read handwriting • Most people have smart phones... • Any free apps out there? • Twitter? #couldwork #backupplan

  6. Commit! • We had 2 weeks • Really only had nights and weekends • Geocent specializes in Agile/Scrum Dev • Just need some volunteers!

  7. Build it! • Followed Agile Concepts • Used only what we needed • Didn’t waste time talking about “True Agile” • Leveraged Open Source tools • Distributed team NOLA/Chas – used Skype to collaborate Deploy Backlog Dev Code repo CI Google Docs Java / Eclipse GitHub Jenkins Apache Tomcat Test / Defects

  8. Go Live! • Deployed the final code at 0300 before the conference • Capable of polling twitter • Ran for 3 straight days • 180 Questions Processed

  9. Outcome • Spawned a new virtual Org in Geocent www.geocentlabs.com • Themis has been used at SBIOI, C5ISR, and AFCEA events for 2 years • We had a lot of fun building it! Give your people the freedom to innovate!…success will follow
