Where did the battle take place? They fought eighteen days apart in the fall of 1777. This battle was held on the Hudson River in New York State. This battle was held close to the Hudson River. • The Battle of Saratoga started on September 19, 1777. • The battle ended on October 17,1777. • The Battle of Saratoga took place in Saratoga, New York.
What caused this battle? British Patriots • One of the main reasons this battle started is because the Patriots wanted their freedom. • On the other hand the British wanted to capture New England for themselves.
What was the main goal of this battle? • Patriots- wanted to win freedom. • They both were trying to win the battle so they could get what they want. • British- trying to get New England
VICTORY! The Patriots defeat the British. Right after general John Burgoyne surrendered.
WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME OF THE BATTLE? • The Patriots defeat the British! • The Patriots had a surprising defeat after General Burgoyne surrendered. • With the Patriots winning this helped France eventually join the war on the Patriots side.
