Americans gain support from abroad
Foreign Aid • France and Spain wanted to see Great Britain lose land and power (retribution for defeating them in the French and Indian War) • Allied themselves with America only after the colonies proved they could win battles (Trenton, Saratoga) • Offered financial support, supplies, military and experience/training
