Montana University System (MUS) Graduates • In 2008/2009 healthcare grads composed 12% (875) of all MUS graduates. Second only to Business/Accounting/Marketing 14% • Of the 875 total Mt. Healthcare grads in 2008/2009 805 (92%) were Montana residents. • 674 were employed for at least one quarter in the year following graduation. 652 were Montana residents. 561 were employed for 4 consecutive quarters following graduation. • Average salary of healthcare grads that worked 4 quarters was $39,400, 35% higher than the average MUS graduate.
Montana by Physicians by AHEC regions • Eastern Region: 663 Physicians, 2.41 per 1,000 people 97 per 1,000 people not including Yellowstone County and 10 counties without a physician • North Central Region: 290 1.9 per 1,000 2 counties without a physician • South Central: 558 Physicians 2.2 per 1,000 0 counties without a physician • Western: 753 physicians 2.5 per 1,000 people 0 counties without a physician

Conclusions • Healthcare jobs pay well and have sustained growth through recessions • Healthcare graduates tend to be Montana residents and the majority stay in Montana • Physicians gravitate towards Montana metro areas and 12 counties have no physician
