Entry Into Year 14 • You must pass a minimum of 3 AS-level subjects if you wish to return to the College as a Year 14 student. • You must pass an AS-level subject (Grade A – E) if you wish to take it as an A2 subject in Year 14. • In some cases, if you have a low pass in the subject you will be advised not to continue with it to A2. ./
Consulting With Your Teachers • Students with A or B grades in a subject can proceed with it to A2 without consulting their subject teachers. • Students with C, D or E grades in a subject mustconsult with their subject teachers if they wish to take the subject to A2. • If you achieved a grade U in a subject then you should consult with your subject teacher and a Careers teacher about the way forward. ./
Year 14 Subject Choice 2013-14 What A-level subjects are you choosing? • Return your Subject Choice Form TODAY! • Leave Form at the Reception desk. • No need to see me in person.
Work Hard And Play Hard! • Last year, 20% of Year 14 students achieved a minimum of A + A + A at A-level. • Each student also participated in a variety of other extra-curricular activities: e.g. voluntary work, sport, music, drama, etc. • Very good exam results are often complemented by achievement in other non-academic areas. • Universities are not just interested in your exam results but in your character and personality. • However good time management is essential! - get the balance right! ./
Examination Issues • Examinations Officer: Mrs Tara Todd • Your AS-levels module points have been cashed infor grades – they cannot be un-cashed. • Friday 6 September: Information on the January re-sit of AS-level exams becomes available. January re-sits are not available for English exam board courses (i.e. Maths, Further Maths, Sociology, Drama, Computing, PE and Music Technology). • Friday 20 September: Deadline for the re-mark of an AS-level exam script (Photocopy of script is only available with a re-mark) • Friday 4 October: Deadline for request for original AS-level exam script. • Friday 11 October: Deadline for entry for an AS-level re-sit. • AS-level grades must be declared on UCAS applications. Universities will be aware of any poor cashed in grade. * Marks/grades can go up or down when a script is remarked!
