THS Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) • The mission of the Topsail High PTSO is to support programs that enforce educational opportunities for students and teachers and acknowledge the academic achievements of the student body. • Topsail High PTSO Board Members: • Beth Mongeau - President • Teresa Moore - Vice President • Patti Desmarais - Vice President • Debby Hotton - Treasurer • Mary Tobin - Secretary
Fee Schedule • Career and Technical Education (CTE) Courses - $10.00 • Visual & Performing Arts: $10.00 per class • Marching Band: $100.00 • Symphonic Band: $50.00 • Copy Fee: • Black & White Copies - .10 per copy • Color Copies - .50 per copy
Graduation Requirements • English: 4 credits (English I, II, III, IV) • Math: 4 credits (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II & 4th level math course) • Science: 3 credits (Earth/Environmental, Biology & Physical Science) • Social Studies: 4 credits (World History, American History I, American History II & Civics & Economics) • Health/PE: 1 credit • Elective Credits: • 2 credits from CTE, Fine Arts or Foreign Language • 4 credit concentration (ALL from one area)
North Carolina Attendance Expectations • State Attendance Policy • All students under 16 years of age must not miss more than 10 unexcused absences for the entire school year • At 10 unexcused absences parent(s)/guardian(s) are subject to potential referral to the District Attorney’s office
Pender County Attendance Expectations • Pender County Attendance Policy • Each semester 8 absences per class • Loss of class credits for excused or unexcused • Saturday School will be offered each semester
Tardy Policy • 3rd Tardy: Parent phone call • 4th & 5th Tardy: Administrative lunch detention • 6th Tardy: CELL for the next school day • 7th Tardy: Suspension **TARDIES ARE TOTALED FOR ALL CLASSES**
THS Dress Code • Shirts: No tank tops. Shirts must have sleeves or cap sleeves • Gym Shorts: Can only be worn in gym class. • Pants: Must be worn at waist level. (No sagging pants) • Skirts & Shorts: Must meet the Pender County 3 inch rule (index card length above the knee) • Hats & Head Coverings: Will be taken and put in the front office for parent pick up when worn after the 8:20AM bell. • Non Complicance (for dress code): • 1st Offense: Reprimand (noted on a Google document) • 2nd Offense: Administrative Lunch Detention • 3rd Offense: CELL (Center for Educational Learning & _______) • 4th Offense: Suspension • **Hats & Headcoverings: 1st & 2nd offense: hat taken and held in the front office
THS Cell Phone Policy • After first bell – cell phones WILL be taken if they are visible – NO WARNINGS • Failure to turn off and/or put cell phone away is non compliance & will result in: • 1st Offense: Administrative Lunch Detention • 2nd Offense: CELL • 3rd Offense: Suspension • **Parents MUST pick up all cell phones when taken from student on 1st & 2nd offense
