Important Dates • Please make a note of these important dates during the fall 2009 semester. • Mon, August 24 Classes Begin • Friday, August 28 Add/Drop Deadline – in- person • Sunday, August 30 Add/Drop Deadline – online • Monday, Sept. 14 Herberger Institute Extended Add Period Ends (more later) freshman orientation
Nov. 6 Course Withdrawal Deadline – in-person • Nov. 8Course Withdrawal Deadline – online • Nov. 2-22 Spring 2010 Registration begins (not confirmed) • Dec. 8 Complete Withdrawal Deadline/Last day of classes freshman orientation
Herberger Institute Extended Add Period The Herberger Institute will extend the add deadline to allow students to add a course within the Herberger Institute until September 14, 2009 Only students adding an Herberger Institute course will be allowed to drop a Herberger Institute course after the add/drop deadline of August 30 After August 30, if you want to drop a class without taking another course within the Herberger Institute, you must withdraw from the course freshman orientation
Adding a Class • To add a class after August 30th, you must complete an enrollment request form(http://www.asu.edu/registrar/forms/pdf/EnrollmentREQUEST.pdf) and follow this procedure: • Obtain the faculty member’s signature indicating approval of the late add. If it is an online course, faculty may send the student an e-mail indicating approval of the override. • Once you have the faculty member's signature or e-mail, bring the form (and e-mail) to the Herberger Office of Student Success (Design South 101) and obtain Asst. Dean Melissa Phelan’s signature or stamp freshman orientation
Once you have both signatures, you take the form to the University Registrar's Office (Student Services Building) to have the course added to your schedule • Double-check your registration (on MyASU) to make sure the class appears on your course list freshman orientation
Overrides • Overrides – normal reasons are: getting into a class that is full, a time conflict, getting into a class when you don’t have the prerequisites • YOU must talk to the instructor and get her/his permission • The instructor (not you) must email the office staff asking for the override • They have to supply the course line number, your name, and your ID, so supply all of these items to the instructor freshman orientation
The instructor will notify you when it is completed and you will need to go online and add the course You should CHECK (on MyASU) to make sure it has registered – you are responsible always to ensure you are officially registered for the correct classes freshman orientation
FERPA • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Acts • We cannot share information (written or oral) with anyone about you without your permission - even if you are listed as a dependant of someone else • If you wish to grant permission to an individual to have access, you would need to fill out a FERPA waiver (available on the registrar’s site) freshman orientation
MUP 100 • All music majors need 4-6 semesters of this ‘class’ • Entails attending 6 approved concerts per semester and 4 convocations • Discuss what ‘approved’ is • Discuss what ‘convocations’ are • Can pick up cards (explain) anytime on or after Friday, Aug. 28th from School of Music Main Office E185 • Does NOT meet every M, W, F (explain) freshman orientation

Plagiarism and any other form of academic dishonesty that is in violation with the Student Code of Conduct will not be tolerated.
