The Beer Hall Putsch • Hitler attempted an armed overthrow of local authorities in Munich, Germany. • Hitler was jailed for treason. • He wrote Mein Kampfin jail.
expanding • From 27,000 members in 1925 to 108,000 members in 1929. • Most of these members belonged to the SA the propaganda armed known for street brawling.
Rise in power • German President Paul von Hindenburg appointed Hitler as the Chancellor in 1933. • The Nazis under Hitler started seizing power and eliminating political rivals.
Tying up loose strings • Hitler worried that the SA was gaining power. • In June 1934 Hitler, using his personal body guards the SS, and the Gestapo staged a coup against the SA leaders. • With the SA out of the way, Hitler turned his attention to the Jews.
