SP2 Multi-Year Plan (2007-2015) Long-Term Goals OPPTS and/or other organizations use the results of ORD’s research as scientific foundation for: • LTG 1 - 1) prioritization of testing requirements, 2) enhanced interpretation of data to improve their human health and ecological risk assessments, and 3) decisionmaking regarding specific individual or classes of pesticides and toxic substances that are of high priority. • LTG 2 -- probabilistic risk assessments to protect natural populations of birds, fish, other wildlife, and non-target plants. • LTG 3 -- decisionmaking related to products of biotechnology.
Status • MYP was updated December 2006 • External review by SP2 Subcommittee of Board of Scientific Counselors - February 7-9, 2007 • Submission of PART to OMB - March 2007 • Website - by end of 2007
EDCs Multi-Year Plan (2007-2015): Long-Term Goals • LTG 1 -Provide a better understanding of the science underlying the effects, exposure, assessment, and management of endocrine disruptors • LTG 2 -Determine the extent of the impact of endocrine disruptors on humans, wildlife, and the environment • LTG 3 -Support EPA’s screening and testing program
Status • Updating Multi-Year Plan – by August 2007 • Mid-Cycle review by EDCs Subcommittee of Board of Scientific Counselors – September 2007 • Held interagency workshop – February 20-22, 2007; another one organized for August 2007 • Synthesis document on three research areas by end of 2007 • Website by the end of 2007
Future Priorities: SP2 and EDCs • Develop websites to communicate results • Improve coordination/leveraging with other research programs • Identify/finalize synthesis documents • Improve involvement of Regional input • Improve engagement with OPPTS (and OW) senior management • Continue to develop cross-lab/center opportunities for integrated research • Continue to hold targeted scientist to scientist workshops • Visit labs/regions
