  3. Murillo cultiva fundamentalmente la temática religiosa y especialmente la figura de la Virgen María. Sus personajes se caracterizan por una gran dulzura y sensibilidad. En su estilo destaca el empleo de sutiles gradaciones lumínicas, con las que crea un gran efecto perspectiva, que realza con efectos luminosos resplandecientes. La influencia de Murillo en la pintura española se extiende hasta el siglo XIX, siendo considerado actualmente como uno de los grandes maestros de la historia del Arte.
