  2. SAFAVID EMPIRE The Safavid Empire is a known empire in the Middle East stretching from the Persian area into Central Asia. This area belonged to Tamerlane but after Tamerlane’s collapse the area was under the control of the Uzbeks. These Turkic-speaking peoples from Central Asia maintained a semblance of control over the highly fluid tribal alignments until the emergence of the Safavid dynasty in the Persian area during the beginning of the 16th century.

SUNNIS AND SHIIS ARE THE TWO SEPARATE GROUPS OF THE ISLAMIC RELIGION. POLITICS- LEADING THINKERS- SAFAVID DYNASTY SIGNIFICANT IDEAS- USED THE SHIITE FAITH TO BRING UNIFYING FORCE TO THE BLENDING TO THE COMBINING OF THE UNRULY TURKIC-SPEAKING TRIBAL PEOPLE WITH THE SEDENTARY PERSIAN-SPEAKING POPULATION OF THE AREAS. THE SHAH WAS THE SPIRITUAL LEADER THAT CLAIMED ALMOST DIVINE QUALITY. ALTHOUGH THERE WAS KNOWN LANDED ARISTOCRACY, ARISTOCRATIC POWER AND INFLUENCE WAS STRONGLY CONTROLLED BY THE SHAH AND CONFISCATED ANY ARISTOCRATIC ESTATES WHEN IT WAS POSSIBLE AND TOOK THEM UNDER CONTROL OF THE CROWN.

  7. ECONOMICS Leading thinkers- Safavid Emperor Significant ideas- The shah dressed as a common person, walked around the streets to test his subjects honesty. If some merchant was over charging for there goods that merchant was put to death. One baker was killed by being baked in his oven for over charging his baked goods. One butcher was put to death by being roasted on his spit for over charging his meats.

HISTORY Leading thinkers- Safavid Empire Significant ideas- The Safavid Dynasty was founded by Shah Ismail, the descendant of a sheikh called Safi al-Din, who traces his origins back to the fourth imam of the Islamic faith, Ali. Safi was the leader of a community of Turkic-speaking tribes’ people in Azerbaijan near the Caspian Sea. His community was one of the many Sufi mystical religious groups in that area. After time passed, the certain principle spread throughout the nomadic groups in the Middle East and was converted into the more activist heresy. In 1501, Ismail conquered much of modern day Iran and Iraq and claimed him the shah or leader.

  9. SAFAVID ARTS AND ARCHITE-CTURE Safavid Art- Leading Artists- Riza-i-Abassi , Bihzad Significant ideas- Riza created exquisite on simple naturalistic subjects. Riza used soft colors, delicacy and flowing movements to create dominant techniques in the Safavid era. Bihzad c reated the painting, “An Older Man Watches Girls Bathing” and the painting, “ Safavid Architecture- Leading Architects- Shah Abbas I Significant ideas- Schools were built in mosques to upgrade the schools quality with religious motives. The Safavid Empire used many domes in their works of wonders. One famous building was the Sheikh Safi mausoleum which is found in Iran's Ardebil Province. This building was erected in the 14th century.

  10. SAFAVID CONCLUSION IN THE SAFAVID EMPIRE, THERE WERE MANY INTERESTING FACTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS FROM ARCHITECTURE TO ARTS TO ECONOMIC IDEAS. WE HAVE LEARNED MANY THINGS FROM THE SAFAVID EMPIRE BUT NOT ABOUT SCIENCES BECAUSE THOSE FACTS WERE UNKNOWN.
