PAYOFF:College Course Credits • Scores of 4+ (IB scale is 1-7) can earn credit • depending on college/university • Colleges are looking at the following characteristics when they evaluate candidates for admission to their campus: • Rigor of coursework undertaken by the prospective candidate • SAT & ACT Test scores • GPA* • Class Rank • Application Essay • Work/School Activities

  5. 2 IB Diploma Classes • 2 IB Diploma Classes “So what do I need to do to acquire this IBCP thing?” plus Any Career Pathway IBCP CORE Requirements (during Junior/Senior Yrs.) • World Language • Development • Reflective • Project in field • Community & Service • 9th or 10th grade • Pathway course #1 • Personal & Professional Skills (class) • 11th grade • Pathway course #2 • 12th grade • Pathway course #3

  6. “So what ARE these IBCP CORE requirements?” 1. C&S = Community & Service • 50 hours over the two years • A good chunk of this will be done as a Service Learning Project designed by the students over the two years in the program

Language Development • Must show development of a second language • ~50 hours over the two years in program • Must create a portfolio demonstrating their growth in language • Choices: French, Spanish, German • Ideal method: take another Language B course at SFHS 11th or 12th grade year

Reflective Project • Research and develop awareness of an issue related to their pathway • No prescribed structure or format • Possible methods: • Essay, dialogue short play • Short film • Radio play, interview • Web page • Presentation • Storyboard, photographic presentation

Personal & Professional Skills class a separate course… • ATL promotes “soft skills” highly sought after in the business world, such as communication, critical thinking, cultivating effective work culture and professional ethics and community relations.

Fees associated with IBCC There is a one time per candidate fee of $167, and two IB exam fees of $110 each paid over the two year period in the program.
