Commissary Purchases • No more than 60 stamps at one time • Amounts allowed to spend are based on classification, custody or disciplinary status. • Cannot possess more property than can be properly stored.
Outside Vendors • Warden must approve • Hobby, craft or piddling materials per AD-14.59 • Publications • Religious items per AD-07.30
Offender-to-Offender • Prohibited except in an exchange of legal material when assisting another offender
Identification of Property • Registered property • Staff shall be responsible for engraving property • All commissary shoes marked • Recycled items must have previous engraving completely removed • Warden may require engraving of non-registered property • TDCJ number on back of each stamp • Name of commitment and TDCJ number must be written on each envelope
Storage Requirements • Storage containers shall be a minimum of 1.75 cubic feet, metal fire resistant and closable • How is an offender’s property stored during absence from the unit? • One storage container shall be used primarily for combustible and consumable items. • Female offenders may purchase one additional closable storage container for gender-related items.
Legal Material • Additional space for legal material is authorized if the offender can justify it is needed • Law Library Supervisor responsible for issuance and tracking

Handling Religious Items • All religious items must be approved by the Director of Chaplaincy • Additional space for religious material is authorized if the offender can justify it is needed • List some of items allowed
