30 Years and Counting For 30 years, amateur radio operators have provided communications for Red Cross volunteers who man first aid stations around the stadium at University of Georgia’s home football games. A special event station, K4UGA, was set up at the stadium in celebration of this milestone.
A 160 meter loop was set up inside Sanford Stadium! (An eerie, empty stadium.)
“This loop goes where?” (Alex Abraham - KF4YOR; Mike Lamb - WB9TBY)
“What station does this feed line go to?” (Larry Phillips – K4PIC, Kay McMann – KG4WHA, Bob Herrin – KE4JLL)
“Bob, don’t move. You’re loading up well.” (Ed Rollor – N4ZRA, Bob Herrin – KE4JLL, George Kelly – WW4GA, Mike Lamb – WB9TBY)
Where is that document! (Larry Phillips – K4PIC, Bob Herrin – KE4JLL, Ed Rollor – N4ZRA)
“Is this high enough? It really is the “nose bleed” section.”
Looks serious! Lunch and looks of concern! (Bob Herrin – KE4JLL, Erwin Greene – KG4WGZ, Mike Lamb – WB9TBY)
“SPECIAL EVENT STATION K4UGA CALLING” from another position (James Reeves – KF4AQO, Stan Edwards – WA4DYD)
Many folks participated. (Bill Ronay – KM4LS, Kay McMann – KG4WHA)
“How does this thing work?” (Mike Lamb – WB9TBY, George Kelley – WW4GA, ???)
“Got that one – log him.” (Bob Herrin – KE4JLL, current UGA student)
“Did you get that?” (Bill Ronay – KM4LS, Judy Kelley – KJ4HXC)
“Let’s show these Old Timers how it’s done!” (Lee Becham – KD4NTS, Daniel Leach – KI4WIN)
“Another. . .” (Bob Herrin – KE4JLL, Bert New – KI4SYC, Steve Hulsey – KI4KPA)
