Individual School Visits *This event is designed for the Kindergarten children to come and visit the building, meet the staff, and experience typical kindergarten activities. Please bring your child to the visit.

Assessment • Assessment results drive our instruction and allow teachers to develop targeted instruction to meet your child’s needs . • Formal assessments include; tests, short answer questions, multiple choice questions, true and false questions (This includes an online NWEA test three times per year and Michigan Literacy Profile Program(MLPP) four times per year.) • Informal assessments include; group or individual projects, journal writing, oral discussions, and keeping notes or checklists on individual children.
Kindergarten Snapshot • Lakeview will be administering a free kindergarten snapshot assessment to all incoming students. • Parents/Guardians have been provided information in your folders on how to schedule a time for their child to be assessed. • The assessment will provide us with information about your child that will help us design instruction that is targeted to your child’s needs.
Kindergarten Snapshot (Cont.) • The results will also inform you, as a parent, what skills need to be worked on over the summer. • The Snapshot assessment must be completed before any students will be placed. • Snapshots dates are March 5, 11, 13, 19,25, and 27, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. (You may indicate on the yellow form in your folder your preference for an assessment date and we will call you to schedule the appt.)
Enrichment CLASSES • Lakeview Currently Has 5 Enrichment Classes for Kindergarten, which are: • Physical Education (gym) 45 minutes • Library Circulation 45 minutes • Art 45 minutes • Health 45 minutes • Music 45 minutes
Kindergarten Report Cards • Our kindergarten students are assessed in the following areas: • Language Arts • Math • Social Studies • Science • Life Skills • Support Services, and • Kindergarten Enrichment areas Evaluation Code: 1= Advanced/Exceeds Grade Level Expectations 2= Proficient/Meets Grade Level Expectations 3=Partially Proficient/Progressing Towards Grade Level Expectations 4= Not Proficient/Does Not Meet Grade Level Expectations

Kidz Korner Program • Lakeview offers Kidz Korner, latch key programs; • BEFORE THE START OF SCHOOL • END OF THE SCHOOL DAY • Kidz Korner fees include an hourly rate plus a one time only materials fee • Kidz Korner is available on full and half days • Registration for Kidz Korner for the 2014-15 school year will be on Monday, August 25th from 7-10 a.m. and 4-7 p.m. at the Wheat Building. • Parents may get necessary Kidz Korner forms from their school’s office
Enrollment Process • Turn in Kdg. Pre-Registration Form Tonight (Yellow Form) • Schedule a Snapshot assessment for your child • Attend Kdg. Building Visit(s) • Complete Online Registration Packet through Info Snap *Make an appointment with Cathy Culhane to turn in paperwork and complete registration • Receive Notification of Placement • External School of Choice Students will not be placed until their child has taken their Kdg. Snapshot and the online registration packet and registration process is completed.
