What is the big picture? • Cultural diffusion --> through Crusades- leads Europe out of dark ages, increase Islamic wealth through trade • Islam empire preserved material otherwise would have been lost to the world. • Muslim way of assimilation allows others not to be threatened by religion and allows other to convert willingly • Technology leads to Age of Exploration • Way of thinking of science helps lead to Renaissance in Europe
