  2. Nubia • A desert region and ancient kingdom in the Nile River valley of southern Egypt and northern Sudan. In the 8th and 7th centuries kingdom arose that conquered Egypt and ruled as the XXV (15th) Dynasty (712-663).

  3. New Kingdom • Also referred to as the Egyptian Empire, is the period in ancient Egyptian history between the 16th century BC and the 11th century BC, covering the Eighteenth, Nineteenth, and Twentieth Dynasties of Egypt. It was Egypt’s most prosperous time and marked the peak of its power.

  4. Egyptologist • An archeologist who specializes in the study of Ancient Egypt.

  5. Hatshepsut • Hatshepsut was the fifth pharaoh of the Eighteenth dynasty of Ancient Egypt. She is generally regarded by Egyptologists as one of the most successful pharaohs, reigning longer than any other woman of an Egyptian dynasty.

  6. Obelisk • A stone pillar, typically having a square or rectangular cross section and a pyramidal top, set up as a monument or landmark.
