Today’s attractions: • Review of new and/or tricky alphabet sounds & letters • Double vowels (diphthongs) • Double consonants • Reading practice • Listeningto Greek poetry: Ithaca & The Satrapy (Cavafy’s poems) • Saying what nationality you are and where you are from and whether you are on holidays or business • Using the numbers 0 – 12 • Watch a short movie about Greece ….and if time allows: • Simple grammar ( articles, nouns, pronouns, the verb to be, ….)
Try to guess the meaning • You've learned the entire Greek alphabet, plus the double vowels and double consonants. At this point, you should be able to read any Greek word that you see. Try your hand at it. These words are called cognates, which means that they are words that sound like words you already know in English. Hint: some of them are names of cities and countries.
