Paul !!!?!? • Several early church sources say Paul wrote it in Hebrew, and Luke translated it into Greek. • It ends like Paul ends books. • It says “the just shall live by faith”. • Peter suggests Paul had written a Jewish group. No other book meets the criteria. • It’s written from a prison (10:34) in Italy (13:24) by a person who knows Timothy (13:23). Who else but Paul?

  8. What’s it about? • The word “perfect” occurs 14 times. • The word “better” occurs 13 times. • The book introduces the way of Christ as “better” than the Old Testament path, and “perfect” (complete).

  12. Warnings for them –that apply to us too! • Don’t go back to the Old Ways! Heb. 10:28-29 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctifies him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? • Don’t go back on Grace! Heb. 8:10 “This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds, and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.”
