Outcomes Overview Category 2 Year 1 Year 2 Grant Budget Resources As part of a four-year cohort, Title I Focus Schools must implement state-supported reforms Focus School Overview • These reforms include the use of the Indistar Continuous Improvement Tool, and implementation and coordination of RtI initiatives in reading, mathematics and behavior, which address the following components: • Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) • Collaborative Planning Time • Core Instruction and Interventions • Professional Development • Early Warning Systems (EWS) (middle and high schools only)
Outcomes Overview Year 1 Year 2 Grant Budget Resources Three main expectations for Focus Schools Year 1: Focus School Expectations 2012-2013 • Attend the RtI Center’s Foundational Overview training. • Attend an Indistar training. • Assess 35 indicators within Indistar by June 30, 2013.
Outcomes Overview Year 1 Year 2 Grant Budget Resources Focus School Requirements 2013-2014 • Create at least three active objectives from Indistar indicators. • At least one objective must be aligned to RtI and at least one must be aligned to PBIS. Middle and high schools must also align at least one objective to EWS. • Review Year 2 action planning with DPI Focus School Liaison. • The DPI Focus School Liaison will offer technical assistance in aligning Indistar active objectives to RtI, PBIS, EWS, and the school needs assessment. • Maintain three active objectives in Indistar throughout the school year. • Active objectives have tasks assigned to them. • Tasks assigned to objectives must be updated at least three times a year. • Focus school liaisons monitor the activity on Indistar in October, January and April. • If a school has not yet implemented PBIS, attend PBIS training by May 31, 2014. • Plan for full PBIS implementation in 2014-2015. Outcomes Overview Year 1 Year 2 Budget Resources Grant All Focus Schools will receive a Title I-A Focus School Grant for 2013-2014 Focus School Grant 2013-2014 • This $14,000 grant must be used to support the professional development needs of staff or to support the utilization of Indistar. • The grant funds are loaded into the ESEA consolidated application once three Indistar indicators have been made into active objectives, and these objectives have assigned tasks.
Outcomes Overview Year 1 Year 2 Grant Category 6 Resources Budget Focus School Grant Budget There is no carryover for the $14,000 Focus School Grants. All money must be spent in the 2013-2014 school year. All budget revisions must be completed by June 30, 2014. All Focus Schools have the option of transferring up to 100% of their Title II-A funds into Title I-A. The Focus School Grant funds must be used the same school year they are received
