  2. About bepress Started in 1999 by University of California - Berkeley faculty to publish scholarly journals. In 2002 bepress worked with the University of California System (CDL) extended that platform to manage published articles. This became the foundation for Digital Commons. Over 200 institutions today use Digital Commons. As of Sept, 2011, bepress is concentrating wholly on Digital Commons and is supporting universities that want to provide repository and publishing services

  3. Digital Commons is a hosted repository service that includes open access software, a publishing system, hosting and support, all bundled together
