LESSON PLAN • Grade: 10 Unit:Lesson: Topic: Classroom rules Day: Sunday 09/10/2011 Session: 1 • Warming Up Activity: Tr shows Ss a picture of a set of rules. Ss discuss what rules are, where they are found and why they are set. (slide 2) • Objectives: To discuss about rules generally To derive classroom rules from pictures. To produce more classroom rules on their own. • Materials: slide shows/ pictures • Procedure: • Ss are divided in groups. Tr shows students a picture on a slide show and asks them questions about it to lead them to the rule. Each group thinks of a rule starting with NEVER. Each group reads the rule and the others give their opinion about it. Tr shows the right rule on the slide show. This is done with every new rule. • As evaluation and when all the rules are presented. Tr redisplays the pictures. Ss give the rule related to every picture. (slide 9). • More discussion follows : Ss add more classroom rules, if any. Ss discuss if these rules can be set as school rules and what other rules can be added as school rules. • A volunteer writes the agreed on rules on a poster to be hanged in the classroom. • Home Assignment: 1- students learn the rules by heart. 2- Each group visits an institution (or serf the internet) and sets five rules for an institution of their choice (hospital, university, etc)
What do you see in the picture? Classroom rules. Who can define classroom rules. They are instructions that tell you what you are allowed to do and what you are not allowed to do in the classroom. Where do we see similar rules? Do we need rules for our classroom? Why do we set rules for our classroom? 1- To make learning easier and more useful 2- To provide respect between pupils themselves and between teacher and pupils.

Never use your mobile in the classroom Is it allowed to bring your mobiles to school? No, of course. Let’s make a better rule! Never bring your mobile to school

Never fight in the classroom. Never chew gums in the classroom. Never sleep in the classroom. Never keep your classroom untidy. Never cheat in the classroom. Never use your mobile in the classroom
Which of the rules we’ve seen so far can be set in other institutions. What other classrooms rules can you think of? Let’s think of rules about the school and not only the classroom.
