Consumers Organisms that get their energy and nutrients by consuming other animals and plants. Examples: lions, human, rats, elephants, etc. 3 Types of Consumers: 1.) Herbivore 2.) Carnivore 3.) Omnivore
Herbivore • Consume: producers (plants) ONLY!!
Carnivore Consumes: consumers (animals) ONLY!!!
Omnivore Consumes: BOTH producers (plants) and consumers (animals).
Scavengers Organisms that feeds on dead animals.
Producer • Organisms that produce complex substance such as glucose and starches. This process of turning energy from the sun into food is called photosynthesis. • EXAMPLE:Any plant!!
O- CO2 Cycle Through photosynthesis Plants take in CO2 To make food and release oxygen (O) Through respiration Animals take in oxygen (O) And release CO2
Decomposers • Organisms that change waste and dead organic material into substances that producers can use.
Rules for Producer, Consumer, and Decomposer Tag (PCD Tag) • If you are tagged, you go the decomposition area and have to wait 10 seconds before coming back into the game.
Food Chain • Place the following organisms in their proper place: Microorganisms Nutrients Rabbit Bear Grasses
