  1. Producers, Consumers, Decomposers Its all about what you eat!

  2. An organism is ….. • Any independent living thing • Can be as small as a single celled bacteria • Or as large as a whale!

  3. The three categories of the food chain are….. • Producers • Consumers • Decomposers They are all depend on each other.

  4. Producers Are- • Producers get their food and energy from the sun. (PLANTS) • They make their food through a process called photosynthesis.

  5. Consumers • Consumers need to eat their food to get energy. (ANIMALS)

  6. Types of consumers are • There are THREE types of Consumers • Carnivores • Herbivores • Omnivores. • Its still all about what you eat!

  7. Carnivores only eat meat (other animals)

  8. Herbivores eat only plants.

  9. Omnivores eat both meat (animals) and plants.

  11. Decomposers • Decomposers eat dead things and turn them back into dirt, or soil. • Examples: • Mushrooms • Worms • Bugs

COMPOST BIN Made by gathering plant material, such as leaves, grass clippings, and vegetable peels, into a pile or bin and letting it decompose as a result of the action of aerobic bacteria, fungi, and other organisms. A compost bin cycles energy, by decomposing biomass and forming fertilizer that is full of Nitrogen. The decay of biomass releases energy in the form of heat.
