UTI in Children RED 3 months old and under Assess level of child’s illness in line with NICE Guidance on feverish illness in children Who to refer for secondary care imaging Acute referral: Send to Paediatric A&E Phone 0208 216 4069 Or Refer to On-call Paediatric Team for ultrasound during acute infection Acute referral to Send to Paediatric A&E Phone 0208 216 4069 Or Refer to On-call Paediatric Team for ultrasound during acute infection RED Refer to Paediatric Integrated Care Clinic for secondary care ultrasound within 6 weeks of first presentation. • Atypical UTI • Poor urine flow • Abdominal or bladder mass septic • Failure to respond to suitable antibiotics within 48 hours • Non-E.Coli organisms • Or • Recurrent UTI in under 6 months old AMBER AMBER • All under 3 years old with atypical UTI • All children with recurrent UTI 6 months old and over Over 3 months and under 6 months old and responds well to treatment within 48 hours Or Recurrent UTI in over 6 months old Version Draft April 2013
