Confirmation • Confirmation is an important factor in life, as seen in courts, marriage license, adoption, power of attorney, wills, etc. • Confirmation can be established by a notary public: clerks who have been certified and licensed by a state to witness, sign and certify the legality of certain legal documents and proceedings. The main purpose for notary publics is to prevent forgery and fraud.

Confirmation • Confirmation is no less important in our religion • God gives us mankind assurance that what he said is true (Mk. 16:19-20; Gal. 3:15-17; Heb. 2:3-4; 6:16-17; 1 Tim. 3:13) • We do not have to rely on a “blind faith” (Lk. 1:1-4; 24:44; Heb. 11:1) • God gives us a “firm covenant” (Dan. 9:27) … let us consider how he does this

  4. God Gives Confirmation • By angelic beings (Lk. 2:10-11; 24:4) • By wise men from the East (Mt. 2:1-2) • By John the Baptist (Jn. 1:6-7,29; 5:30-47) • By Moses and Elijah (Mt. 17:1-5) • By Jesus’ Apostles (2 Pet. 1:16-18)

  5. God Gives Confirmation • By Jesus’ teaching (Mt. 7:28-29; Jn. 7:45-46) • By Jesus’ miraculous signs / wonders while living (Mk. 2:5-12) • By Jesus’ holy life (Mk. 14:55-56) • By a crucified thief (Lk. 23:42-43) • By Jesus’ resurrection (Rom. 1:4; Acts 1:3; 1 Cor. 15:6)

God Gives Confirmation( even through hostile witnesses ) • By evil demonic enemies (Lk. 4:41) • By prejudiced Jewish enemies (Jn. 3:1-2; 11:45-47; 12:11-12; Acts 4:16) • By hardened Roman enemies (Mt. 27:23,54) • When your avowed enemy gives testimony on your behalf, you know you are on solid ground.
