EVALUATION STRATEGIES: JK/SK & Grades 1-3 Teacher Observation: Grades 1-3 • clip board “At a Glance” sheets • may track, social, emotional, physical and academic growth • may raise any questions or concerns you have about student • offer much information for work habits section of report card
EVALUATION STRATEGIES: JK/SK and Grades 1-3 2. Checklists • record skills such as conservation of mass or number, counting, letter recognition, sound letter recognition, printing name, sight words etc on checklists • record physical abilities such as one and two foot jumping, skipping, hopping etc. on checklists • record pretest data on concepts such as adding, subtraction, fractions etc. on checklists
EVALUATION STRATEGIES: JK/SK and Grades 1-3 3. Rubrics: • 4 level rubrics • work best for all complex authentic tasks • examples? • create with the children whenever possible • use child friendly language
EVALUATION STRATEGIES: JK/SK and Grades 1-3 4. Student self or group assessment: • group work participation evaluation sheets • verbal evaluation of any lesson • What did we do right? • How could we improve? • math fact sheets, spelling, grades 2 and 3 • rubric marking grade 3

Report Cards • anecdotal and grades A, B, C, D and R • expectations are on pull down menus • choose a few per term in each subject area. • levels based on 4 level rubrics • section for work habits • therefore marks not deducted for lateness, poor workhabits or social skills
