Waste Reduction & Recycling • Best Practices • Over 30 types of material recycled at UNCG • FY 07/08 – Recycling rate was 35% • Re-use programs – Cram & Scram, mag rack, emerging office supply re-use program • Comprehensive residence hall recycling program • 752 tons recycled, reused or composted • Reuse & Recycling produced $136,578 in savings last year! • Biofuel from fryer oil recycling
Waste Reduction & Recycling • Future Goals • Complete implementation of new programs • Future compost project for yard waste and food • Office supply re-use center • Increase recycling at all athletic events • Increase recycling sites & standardize signage • Seek new markets for recycling • Further develop buy-recycled policy & increase participation • Recycling liaison program to improve service
