NORTH INDIA North India, where the mighty Himalayas meet the Thar desert, the apples of Kashmir meet the green paddy fields of Punjab, the monasteries of Himachal meet the royal palaces of Rajasthan….
JAMMU AND KASHMIR The northern most state in India, the glorious journey into Kashmir Valley will leave you wonderstruck. A stay on a houseboat on Dal Lake is idyllic. Tread unknown paths where you have miles of wilderness and beauty personified. Jammu is known for the Hindu holy shrines of Amarnath and Vaishno Devi which attract tens of thousands of devotees every year. Jammu's historic monuments feature a unique blend of Islamic and Hindu architecture styles.
HIMACHAL PRADESHHimachal is snugly situated in the Western Himalayas, the abode of snow. Its known all over the world for its natural beauty. The fruit bowl of the country, it has orchards scattered all over the place. Meadows and pastures are also seen clinging to steep slopes. A habitat to a variety of animals, it has 12 major national parks and sanctuaries.
HARYANA The small yet enchanting state of Haryana is set in the foothills of Aravalli. It is home to rugged hills, soul stirring temples, chill tanks and centuries- old monuments. Several decisive battles were fought in the area, many of which shaped the history of India, including the epic battles of Mahabharta and Kurukshetra.
PUNJABThe word Punjab is a combination of Persian words panj(five) and aab(water) and thus the land of five rivers. This land of great Gurus not only boasts of ancient historical monuments but pulsates with religious fervour. The world’s largest gurudwara, the Golden Temple, attracts millions of devotees from across the world to marvel at its inimitable architecture and soak in the tranquility it exudes. Since this state borders Pakistan, from the posts at Wagah border you can peep into the land that was once an integral part of Punjab and experience the feelings of the people separated by a political line dividing the land.
RAJASTHANThis is the Indian state that depicts the artistic side of the country and reflects rich folk culture. Its known for its traditional music and dance, sandy dunes, historical monuments, mighty forts, and vibrant handicrafts.Rajasthan is often called a shopper's paradise. It is famous for textiles, semi-precious stones and handicrafts. The attractive designs of jewellery and clothes are eye-catching and invite shoppers. Rajasthani furniture has intricate carvings and bright colours. Above all, Rajasthan's shopping appeals to both tourists and people from other parts of India due to its cheap prices for quality goods.
