2008 Season Questions • Anything on your mind? Questions?
Arbiter • Each Team Rep must be registered • Affiliated with team • Contact person/information for game day • Team Contacts • Schedule verification • Change notifications • Assigned officials/contact information • Game evaluations
Registering on Arbiter • www.thearbiter.net • Fill in as much contact info as you can • You must have a phone number • Must fill in title starting with “GRLC” • Sites – need as exact address as possible • Subsites – extra field if needed, with address – each new site needs approval
Dealing with Officials • Assignor chooses officials – 3 if available • Game rates and travel are set by contract with MCLA • Referee is in charge of the crew • Contact Referee minimum 24 hours prior to game, suggest earlier (e-mail is fine) • Game day changes – call ASAP • Charges for officials incurred once they have left their home city
Dealing with Officials (con’t) • Need game-day mutual respect • Don’t use first names during games • Game management styles differ • Arguing judgment calls doesn’t help • 4-minute mark at half time • Sportsmanship on sidelines – coaches responsibilities • Fill out evaluations after each game!
Evaluating Officials • Contentious game – wait a day • Mistakes made, document specifically • “Worst officiating I’ve ever seen” • “Doesn’t know the rules” • Constructive reporting helps me help you and the official • I read the evaluations/ e-mail me • Observer Program
